Bacon Wrapped {Jalapeno} Poppers
Made, Written & Photographed by the Creators of the Point
Surprisingly the man who hates all things spice requested Jalapeno Poppers {Tyler}. This recipe still has the spice of jalapenos but the bacon and the optional BBQ sauce help to calm it down a bit. Just make sure to wear gloves or be VERY careful not to touch your eyes while you're cutting and removing seeds from these babies.
Bacon Wrapped {Jalapeno} Poppers
Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 1 hour | Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes |
Cuisine: American | Special Tools: Toothpicks | Course: Appetizer |
Ingredients:
6 fresh jalapeños halved length wise and seeds removed
4 oz cream cheese softened
1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tbsp green onion diced
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
9 slices bacon cut in half
bottled BBQ sauce optional
tooth picks
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 275°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
In a medium bowl, beat together your cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Next, fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture.
Wrap each popper loosely with 1-2 slices of bacon (however many slices you have vs how big the peppers are). Secure with a toothpick for baking.
OPTIONAL (but suggested): Brush your poppers with BBQ sauce.
Place in oven for about 1 hour or until bacon is crisp. You can also broil to speed up that process at the end.
Serve hot or at room temp!
Notes:
If you'd prefer not to have spice, swap out Jalapenos with sweet peppers. It's just as good and you can almost taste the flavors better!
