Hot Chocolate for Two
Made, written & photographed by the creators of the Point
The hot chocolate powder packets might be convenient, but the taste of homemade hot chocolate is too good to pass up.
The half/half mixture of milk and heavy cream bring a smooth, rich level to the classic beverage. (Of course, if you only have milk, feel free to omit the heavy cream and replace with 1 cup milk!)
All you need is a pot, a few ingredients, and about 10 minutes.
Hot Chocolate for Two
serves 2
Ingredients:
1 cup milk
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
¼ cup chocolate chips
⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
Begin by using a sauce pan and pour in your 1 cup milk and 1 cup heavy cream.
Bring to a medium-low heat, and stir in your 2 tablespoons cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar. Whisk continuously and continue to heat thoroughly.
Once the cocoa powder has dissolved and no clumps remain, add in 1/4 cup chocolate chips. Continue to whisk until they are completely melted.
Finish by adding 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract. Continue to stir and heat on medium-low for one to two minutes.
Remove from heat and pour equally into two mugs.
Top with marshmallows, grated chocolate, and some whipped cream!
