Loaded Beer Cheese Fries

Updated: Mar 2, 2022

Made, Written & Photographed by the Creators of the Point

This right here is a GREAT Sunday meal (especially after a hangover but what would I know about that….)

You can use your choice of homemade potato wedges, tater tots, crinkle fries, or really any frozen French fry variant. If you want, you can add more to the top! Try jalapenos, fried onions, pulled pork!

This right here is one of those recipes that can be switched up whichever way you'd like best.

Loaded Beer Cheese Fries

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Frozen French fries spiral

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2/3 cup light beer

  • 1 cup sharp cheddar shredded

  • 1/2 cup mozzarella shredded

  • green onions

  • Bacon or bacon bits cooked

Instructions:

  1. Bake your fries according to the package. While they're baking, make your sauce.

  2. In a small saucepan, melt your butter. Mix in your flour, onion powder, garlic powder and paprika over medium heat. Cook for 1 minute.

  3. Stir in your beer and milk in small additions. Make sure to whisk between and make it smooth. Cook over medium heat until it thickens and begins to simmer.

  4. Reduce your heat to low and add your cheeses, stir until just melted.

  5. Layer your French fries on a plate and top with the beer cheese, green onions, and bacon. Enjoy!

This recipe is total comfort food. I doubled the recipe thinking there wouldn't be enough sauce (like most recipes) but it's very filling and the sauce amount could comfortably feed 4 adults. This is officially a repeat for our house!
